The UK clocks go back on 25 October 2026. For Bury businesses using CCTV, the week before the change is a useful time to agree who will check the system clock and recorded playback afterwards. A clear picture is easier to find when its timestamp makes sense.
Start with observation rather than changing settings. Note the date and time shown in your usual viewing app and on a recent recording, then compare them with a reliable current time source. Record any difference and tell your installer which camera or recorder you checked.
Ask your installer to review the time zone, daylight-saving rules and time-synchronisation method for your particular system. Hikvision documentation describes automatic time synchronisation options, but availability depends on the device. A menu from a different model is not a reliable guide to your own recorder.
Agree a brief playback check after the clock change. Choose an ordinary event whose time you can independently note, such as the premises opening, and confirm that authorised staff can locate that recording. Include more than one camera if the system uses separate devices with their own time settings.
If the displayed time is wrong, record the discrepancy before arranging a correction. Avoid making repeated clock changes while someone else is trying to locate footage. Tell the person handling an incident which time difference was observed, rather than quietly relabelling a clip or assuming the timestamp is accurate.
Keep the check practical. A short handover can name the system, the person responsible, the date of the review and any follow-up needed. If you manage several premises, give each site its own entry so an issue at one recorder is not mistaken for a change across the whole business.
